Makeshift TpT app?!

Ok- I'm breaking the rules because I saw this awesome pin on Pinterest that all TpTers HAVE TO SEE!

It is how to make your own app from a website?!  LIFESAVER!  If you are anything like me, TpT might be one of those website you tend to check frequently and although there could be an app sometime in the future (hopefully)  I just found this iPhone trick (new to me anyway) and at least I can quickly get to my Dashboard and it even has the little TpT icon!!!

Here's the How-to:

First, go to desired website- then click the middle button (box with arrow coming out)

You should get options like below:

(I have iPhone 4S so yours might look a little different)

Click add to Home Screen

Fill in the name you want and WA-LA!

I'm so excited about this- hopefully others find this helpful!  How easy is that?!

I was inspired by the pin here:

Lifesaver- SpellingCity

Now that I'm done...I've already been back on the sub circuit!  Whew...I forgot how tiring it can be to have a different set of awesome students everyday.  I  love getting to be in all different grade levels too and see what each one has to offer!

So undoubtedly my first job would be without sub plans...Hello! Haven't teachers heard of emergency sub plans!!!! Just look on TpT! They're even free ones!! Well, I'm not exactly complaining because it was in my old school so I knew the curriculum and my teacher helped me out and I just got real resourceful!

My teacher (Love, Laughter, and Lesson plans) mentioned Spellingcity.com and yes I have seen it before on plenty of blogs but have I checked it out...sadly no.....until yesterday!

All I had were the words for the week but nothing about what to do.  She suggested that website so I hurriedly went to check it out!

Can you say LIFESAVER?!

Sure glad I did!  They even have great stuff for FREE!!!! We played some of the games and I printed out the word search for extra practice and if they needed something else to do during the day.

This is going on my list of go-to resources for any classroom!  Glad I found this gem!

I'm so lucky to have so many jobs lined up already -- I was extremely worried about sitting at home and being bored...not so far!

We really do make a difference and Sale!

Ok so being a substitute has its perks!  I love getting to meet so many new students every day and really seeing all the classrooms.  From personal experience, I know that classrooms are extensions of the teachers themselves and getting to be a part of that is a privilege!!!!

Blogging over the past 8 months has really opened up a whole new world for me- and for that I am extremely THANKFUL!!!

It has inspired me to learn more about educational technology and I start my Master's in January!  It has given me so many ideas and inspiration for the classroom all to help the students I work with - I cannot even explain how fantastic that is.

Something happened for the first time in a classroom...the teacher has BLOG AND TPT STUFF!!! I was noticing the games they were playing for math workshop and I was like "I follow that blog!!!"  Holy Cow!!!!...this was a VERY small school too....knowing that teachers can collaborate across the nation and reach each other is unbelievable!   It was so cool seeing it in action (from my perspective anyway)

Teachers really do make a difference and seeing how blogging/tpt and all the FREEBIES can help and be used in classrooms is truly awe-inspiring.  I just wanted to give a shout out to all the awesome bloggers/creators out there who are helping teachers everywhere - YOU ROCK!

Word Problem FREEBIE

Looking for some word problems to supplement math curriculum around Thanksgiving? Look no further!!!

I noticed this was popping up in quite a few classrooms at about this time specifically 2nd grade but 1st was doing the same with single digits....so I created some double digit Thanksgiving word problems with regrouping.  Another twist: the student has to decide to add or subtract.

It comes with an answer key and everything...It is that LEGIT! I'm excited to take this to the school I'm currently subbing just in case they need extra practice... or don't have sub plans :(

Click the picture below to head over to TpT and download for yourself if this is something your students could work on!

Here's a sample page!

While you are over at my store, check out my newest packet- Schema Strategies!  Uh...ya- it does have some awesome ways to teach schema and connecting to text using what we already know! Something I needed to teach and couldn't find what

Sparkles, Smiles, and SCHEMA!

It's only Wednesday...holy guacamole! What a long week.  Here's what I've been up to:

So schema...(first thought: ?????????, what?!) Then after realizing what it is, I was like "Duh!"  This would be easy to teach.  Well not exactly, but in the process of finding resources to teach I realized there wasn't really anything I liked or thought was comprehensive so what did I do?  Create it- that's what!

And this awesome pack was born!  I went all out- it includes parts for anchor charts, organizers, journal prompts...if you need prior knowledge and connecting to text........this resource is for you!!!

This is great for upper elementary or even lower!!

Check it out:

Click the picture above if this is something you teach, and maybe don't know where to start or just want to take a closer look!

This is an absolute must-have for students to build upon their prior knowledge and connect to what they are reading!

I have plenty more stories from just subbing this week- holy cow- stay tuned for those and some freebies coming up!

Bittersweet!

I'm done student teaching!!!! Back to subbing :(

I need to move on, but I'll miss my kids SO INCREDIBLY MUCH!!!

They are such a sweet bunch- hopefully (fingers crossed) I'll get a lot of sub jobs at this school!!! Finding jobs this time of year would be semi-ridiculous but you never know , my long term sub jobs don't start until February so I have some time to sub, regroup, and go wedding crazy :)

Here's one of the presents I gave my teacher!  I asked the students what was one word to describe our teacher and then put it together in a semi-subway art way! I was pleased with how it turned out!

the printed out pages that I created, traced, then painted!

And lookie what I got- man.....I have/had :(   the absolute BEST cooperating teacher!!!!!!  All these books!!!! I'm so excited to go all nerdy and organize them for my future classroom!   She ROCKS!
